The Butokukai Fellowship operates to advise and support martial
artists of all disciplines in regard to any aspect of Child Protection
Policies, First Aid training, Insurance, Gradings, sourcing CRB checks
etc.
It is also possible through the Butokukai Fellowship to complete a
recognised NVQ qualification in Sport Coaching (Combat Sports). We
are the only organisation able to offer this facility through our
accredited Assesor verifier recognised by the OCN, no other
organisation is authorised to provide this Certificated coursework.
We have our own assesor trainers and internal verifier, the course
was constructed by Dr Leslie MacLean and is copyright (all rights

The Butokukai Fellowship was founded by Dr L W MacLean.Ll.M.,B.A. a
martial artist of over 50 years experience. His legacy is continued today
by Sensei Stewart Cook 5th Dan of Rugeley BSKA and Sensei Ross
Noble 5th Dan of Plymouth.
The Fellowship is affiliated to the BSKA and BKA, and also to Tendai Ryu
Reiki thereby opening the opportunity for training in the healing arts,
which are traditionally linked to the Martial Arts.
The Fellowship has no interest in politics and is non profit making,
individuals may continue to belong to whichever organisations they feel
reflect their own particular discipline. However, the Fellowship reserves
the right to refuse potential affiliations should the Board feel them to be
unsuitable.
Regular seminars and training workshops will be taking place, inviting
attendance from those wishing to participate in the free exchange of
ideas and skills(we reserve the right to refuse entry to any venue).
We are in no way connected to any other organisation using a similar
name (The fellowship has existed since 2004) or any other Centre of
Excellence and we do not endorse any practises or philosophy they may
be disposed to publicise.
The Fellowship exists in the true Spirit of Budo, practising honesty,
integrity and a desire only to pursue our mutual advance within and the
understanding of ALL Martial Arts.
